Zanzibar
TELL US ABOUT THE STAY? WHERE AND HOW WAS IT?
Zanzibar was the first part of our Tanzania trip just before the safari in Serengeti. Our main plan was the safari in Serengeti & Ngorongoro but we added Zanzibar ahead of it since we were already visiting Tanzania. We stayed at a hotel called Uroa Bay Beach Resort located at Uroa Beach in the eastern part of the island. The hotel is set on the shores of the Indian Ocean and it is perfect to take long walks on the shore during the sunset or the sunrise. Also there is a fishermen village very close to the hotel and if you prefer you can bond with local people and visit fishmarket in the afternoon.
By the way, as an alternative you can also choose to stay in Nungwi which is in the northern part of the island, known for its beautiful beach.
ANY GREAT FINDS FROM THAT LAND?
Small wooden figures made by street artists.
SHARE SOME UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES WITH US
Taking photographs of fishermen in the early morning was wonderful. It was amazing because the scenery of the shore and the ocean was perfect just before the sunrise and you witness the morning rush of the fishermen. Let me add that the light in Zanzibar was perfect for photography.
YOUR PLAYLIST OR FAVORITE SONG ON REPEAT?
The Warmth - Incubus
MUST VISIT?
Stone Town and Nungwi Beach.
GREAT FOOD? WHERE?
I think the best option would be your hotel:-) If you like seafood you can visit the fishmarket everyday and buy the day's fishes, lobsters or squid and there is no need to worry about where to cook. Your guide will help you for barganing in the market and find you a restaurant close by to get them ready for the lunch or dinner.
By the way, you do not need to look for a guide in Zanzibar, they will find you wherever you go:-)
WHAT DID YOU PACK?
Camera, lenses and batteries:-)
WOULD YOU GO BACK? WHY?
Yes, sure but next time I will plan it after safari.
